Cruise in for Moms returns in May
A cruise of a different sort will return to Schmidt Auto Care in Springboro on the first day of May.
There will be no awards for the best-rebuilt engine or paint job.
Nothing for restoring a classic.
No, the awards at this cruise are a little more reality-based.Most sports gear in the car

- Most Goldfish crumbs on the floor
- Most pet hair
It is a Mommy-made cruise.
“I was at a women’s business group and we were talking about things we could do inside women’s business to help bring people out,” Lauralee Schmidt said of the cruise that will run from noon until 3 p.m. on May 1. “Someone said it would be funny to have a woman’s specific cruise in.
“I knew then that I wanted to do it.”
Schmidt held one last year, but made it a tribute to Honda Odysseys, but found herself surrounded by nothing but the vehicle.
“We want it full of moms with vans,” Schmidt said. “We are not doing a specialty to a brand this year so hopefully we get a lot of different vehicles.”
While winging it last time, Schmidt said that they have had time to plan things out this time around.
In addition to some untraditional cruise awards, they will also have a DJ that will gear tunes toward the moms and baskets and flowers.
“We are trying to spoil the moms for a change,” Schmidt said. “Last year went really well and we are hoping to add to it and make it an annual event.”
Schmidt is still putting the finishing touches on the cruise in after having time to plan it this time around with the notes she picked up from last year.
“We are doing more each year, little by little,” Schmidt said. “We want to give them a little bit of alone mom time.
“We are just hopeful that we have a good, sunny day.”
